This inmate’s real name is unknown. He didn’t use his real name to sign the release form, because he said he changes it often. But he was a kind, welcoming man that made all the inmates laugh.
I saw a flower on his sink and asked him if he made that. He said he did and then showed me the process, which I got to film. He made it entirely out of toilet paper and toothpaste (to hold it together). It was very cool for me to see the perspective you can have wherever you’re at in life. He made something beautiful out of something so meaningless like toilet paper.
I asked him if I could keep the flower and he was glad to give it to me. Normally, I collect a lot of props from my music videos, but that flower is the only one from this video and it sits proudly in my room.
