Hey Isaac! I've only read your, "Stop getting offended all the time, idiot" post, but thoroughly enjoyed it...particularly the title. I worked as a waitress for a while and sarcasm is a love language in that industry. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy! I knew I'd like your blog and I'm glad I finally got time (and remembered) to read it. I already follow you on twitter. I'm an FF5 fan and finally started following you after seeing re-tweet after re-tweet of your own tweets that made me laugh. <---That's a lot of twitter talk in one sentance!
I want you to know how blessed I am to read your honest opinions. I grew up in church and am most certainly a christian, but definately am very familiar with the same feelings you write about there. Even though I grew up in church I also grew up with an alcoholic Father who not only hung out in the bars most nights, but took me with him lol. I've definately given the same response of, "If I were to get away from ____ I'd have to move away from ____". Even now I work with a ministry in an inner-city. A definition ghetto area. I love meeting and talking to the the miniature gangster of kids, I love hanging out at local bars to meet new people and stopping to have conversation with pan-handlers along the sidewalks of my city. I am always blessed when people show entusiasm and agreement for that part of my heart. I was raised to love the "types" of people I love. I do find myself saddened when I find christians who can't agree with it or are afraid of it. I know I'm not the only person ever to love loving people outside of church, and pray so much for more to gain a heart and passion for that to change. Once again, I love the church and have grown up and been blessed by awesome men and women over and over again (I'm not who I am without them), but I long to see more christians wonder into "risky" territory :)

I'm rocked and excited by your boldness in writing about these things you have stirring in you. Keep it up. You're obviously making a major impact. And I say let your sarcasm fly! If the homies hate the warm and fuzzy blanket you is throwing at them, then let them be cold! :D Or just throw a real blanket at them and yell, "How's this for love, hater?!" <--I really think this will be your most successful approach.

Thank you for speaking out about this. As a homeschool mom of three, I have been involved with different Christian groups. Some of my friends believe in "skirts only" and make their girls wear T-shirts and shorts when swimming, yet my pastor's daughters wear tank tops, converses, skinny jeans and real bathing suits! Some are totally against alcohol, yet my SS teacher/deacon in our church says he likes to kick back with a cold beer after a hot day at work! You cannot look at other Christians for how you will live your life, you have to seek the Holy Spirit's guidance. However, as a parent of a 13 yr old girl I do still guard what she listens to and watches. I have been very pleased with your work and FF5's music/videos. I still have concerns over how some of the girls are dressed, but I don't freak out and say "no more FF5!" If I did that I would have to stop going to my own church! When I see others doing what I know God has personally convicted me of, I just say to myself "let the Holy Spirit convict" and I pray for them, and I pray that I'm not being too closed minded. Your home is the only place where you have total control over what is said, what people watch, listen to, etc. As soon as you step outside your door you will be exposed to the world, even at church. We must welcome the unsaved into our churches, and we must also go out to where they are (into the "wilderness") and rescue them!

God bless you and all your cohorts in this industry!

Nice post Isaac. Some Christians forget that we need to be out in the world and interact with non-believers and even love other sinners. (even gay people who believe abortion is good and gun ownership is bad) They pass over the verses where Jesus hung out with prostitutes and tax collectors. We need to show God's love by being incredibly inclusive, not righteously exclusive. Anyway, good job. I'm glad to see that you are having a varied and successful life. Cheers!

I have a saying I would tell my staff: "You can't expect sinners to act like saints"
BTW if you ever want to come and minister in another youth center/skate ministry you are ALWAYS welcome! :)

Very well said. Our pastor was just talking the other day about the verse that says we are to be salt & light - he pointed out that salt, used as a preservative and a flavoring agent, does no good unless it comes into contact with the meat. How are we doing any good if we never come into contact with non-Christians Aren't they the very people we are called to reach?

And, I live on a military base and it is SO true, they are an entire world enclosed with barbed wire. Convenient. Safe. Self-Contained. Security checkpoints and ID checks. How sad it is when the Church becomes a similar structure, restricting access to only those that are pre-approved and turning away those that so desperately need Christ.
