This is really great Isaac. It really hit home and I agree with you totally. I think about the same things you posted here almost daily and I am so happy to see my same thoughts (of course not exactly) written by someone else whom I hold in high regard. Thank you for posting this. I would like to say more in this comment but cannot seem to explain myself. I just love your writings. thanks again for this.

[...] Jesus has become a dirty word. - Isaac Deitz.comI think witnessing requires us to be sensitive enough to at least know the culture. Witnessing in Bolivia, China, Russia or America needs to be approached with direction from the Holy Spirit which naturally is in love. … [...]

I completely agree. I think that instead of being focused on telling people about Jesus & handing them cheesy tracks, we should be sharing His love with them by loving them for who they are. You should write a book. Your message is one that needs to be heard.

Thanks for this blog! I get frustrated with this a lot, especially when I was on my mission. The part, "I feel like Jesus has such a bad reputation in America because of us. Because we look down on a smoker while we go home to look at porn. " is so true! People can be so judgmental and look down on someone who has outward flaws, when judging that person is just as bad or worse. As cheesy as the saying is, that the church is not a social club, but a hospital, it's something lots of people don't grasp. The gospel is perfect but the people aren't. We go to church to improve, not because we already are perfect!

One lady I taught on my mission had been a prostitute, crack head, trouble with the law, and who knows what else. But because people did not judge her because she smoked, and because they welcomed her into the church and embraced her and served her, she was able to make the changes in her life, one step at a time. She definitely would not have wanted to do that if people had been judgmental to her. I hope each day I can strive harder to be a better representative of my Lord Jesus Christ. Thanks for the reminder!
